Survey on Japanese Awareness and Interest in American Gambling

“Public Gambling Guide (https://practicefoundry.com/)”conducted a survey of Japanese awareness and interest in American gambling among 150 Japanese gambling enthusiasts.

We asked 11 questions about gambling in the United States, their interest in and concerns about gambling, their knowledge and opportunities.

In my opinion, casino gambling is the most common way to gamble in the United States.

Horse racing and online gambling are gambling choices of relatively few people.

It can be seen that opinions on gambling are divided among Americans. Some respondents want to gamble, others don’t. It also appears that some people who have already gambled want to gamble again.

Casinos are the most common answer when it comes to gambling in the United States, and many people seem to associate them with casinos. Specific types of gambling such as poker, roulette, slots and blackjack were also frequently mentioned. It also suggests that Las Vegas is associated with gambling and is recognized as a symbol of American gambling.

In addition, other forms of gambling such as horse racing, baccarat, powerball, and lotteries are also mentioned by some.

The most common form of gambling that appears to take place in the United States is the “casino”.

Lotteries, online gambling, horse racing and sports betting were the next frequent choices.

On the other hand, gambling formats such as bingo, dog racing, keirin, auto racing, and boat racing have been chosen by some but are generally not as widely recognized.

According to the responses, 91 said “No” and 59 said “Yes.”

My impression is that interest in gambling is divided among Americans. Although many respondents say they are not interested in gambling, some people seem to be interested in gambling.

Why are they interested in gambling in the United States?

・A few years ago, when my parents went on a trip to Las Vegas in the UAS, my mother was delighted to hear that she won 100,000 yen playing roulette at a casino.Hearing that made me envious, and I wanted to try it.

・Because the scale is different in the United States than in Japan, the amount you spend will be more, but the amount you buy will be higher, so I’d like to experience it at least once.

・I don’t have a very good image of gambling in Japan, but when it comes to American gambling, I feel safe at hotel casinos.

Why are they not interested in gambling in the United States?

・I have no interest in gambling, not only in the United States. In the United States, the image of movies is associated with cigarettes, alcohol and a poor environment, and trouble with guns. Smart is aimed at the rich and only looks good, it doesn’t look very interesting.

・There is an image that if you do not use your head, you will lose, and the proportion of the luck factor is small, and you feel that you can not do it with your own knowledge.

・Fear wins because I hear stories of people who lost a lot of money overseas gambling.

Question 7. Do you think American gambling is more interesting than Japanese gambling?

According to the responses, 113 said “Yes” and 37 said “No”.

In my opinion, most of the respondents think American gambling is more interesting than Japanese gambling.

This result reflects perceptions of the diversity and attractiveness of American gambling.

While some respondents thought that American gambling was more interesting than Japanese gambling, there were also a certain number of respondents who said no. This indicates that individual tastes, interests, and cultural backgrounds are evaluated differently.

Why do they think American gambling is interesting?

・In Japan, horse racing, bicycle racing, boat racing, and pachinko come to mind, but there seem to be many other types of casinos in the United States, and I felt that I could enjoy gambling that suits me.

・Compared to Japan, casinos have a more glamorous image, so if anything, America has an image that looks more interesting.

・There is a strong image that gambling in Japan is against public order and morals.On the other hand, places such as Las Vegas in the United States are full of leisure elements and are designed to be enjoyed by families.It looks like it would be fun without gambling, so gambling seems to be a more exciting experience.

Why is American gambling not interesting?

・I don’t know much about it, but it’s just a sense that Japan is more digital and seems to get deeper into it. Feels orthodox.

・I can’t understand even if it’s written in English and I can’t communicate with the dealer.

・Gambling is happy if you win, frustrating if you lose, and the thrill is fun. It’s the same with any gambling, and I don’t think it’s always fun because it’s the United States.

Question 8. Do you think American gambling is more profitable than Japanese gambling?

According to the responses, 113 said “Yes” and 37 said “No”.

In my opinion, most of the respondents think American gambling is more profitable than Japanese gambling.

This result reflects the recognition that American gambling generally offers large winnings and dividends.

While some respondents believe that American gambling is more lucrative than Japanese gambling, a certain number of respondents said “No”. This suggests that there is an awareness that gambling results and profits are dependent on luck and skill, and not necessarily by country or region.

Why do they think American gambling is profitable?

・Because the lottery winnings are incomparable to those in Japan, there is an image of how much money you can make when you win at other casinos or horse races.

・There is an image of a high risk, high return, and a large amount to be spent, so there is an image of a large return when you make money.

・Because there are many gambling with a wide range of betting rates, there is a possibility that you can earn a higher amount than Japanese gambling.However, I think the possibility of self-destruction is much higher.

Why do they think American gambling is unprofitable?

・If you win, you can get a great amount of money, but if you think you can make money, it’s difficult and I don’t think it’s much different from gambling in Japan.

・Because gambling is designed to make money, I don’t think you can make money in Japan or America.

・Because Asians are likely to be duped.

Respondents find out about gambling in the United States in a variety of ways.

Television and film seem to play an important role in spreading the image and fascination of gambling in the United States. It seems that some people became interested in gambling by drawing casinos and gambling scenes in TV and movie dramas and entertainment works.

The Internet has also become an important source of information about gambling. Many people seem to have expanded their knowledge of gambling through the Internet, as information can be obtained from gambling-related sites, articles and forums online.

Information from friends and acquaintances and other factors were also selected by some respondents. This shows that there are many different sources of information, such as word of mouth and testimonials from people close to you, other media and events.

There are many answers that want to know the rules of the game. There are many different games and rules in gambling, and there seems to be an interest in learning more about their characteristics and how to play them.

There are also a certain number of people who want to know where they can gamble and how gambling is practiced. Since the United States has a vast land area, there seems to be a demand for information on places and facilities where gambling is performed.

Question 11. Do you have any concerns about gambling in the United States?

I asked an open-ended question. Below are some of the most popular comments.

・Difficulties in communication due to language barriers and cultural differences.

We know that there are many different worries and concerns when we play gambling in the United States. Many respondents cited language problems and communication difficulties due to unfamiliar environments, indicating the importance of understanding English and knowledge of local rules and manners.

There are also many concerns about financial matters, risk management, safety, crime risk, and tax issues.

Summary of questionnaire results and impressions

Combining the answers to questions 1 to 11 so far, there is diversity in attitudes and impressions about gambling in the United States. Below is a summary of my overall impressions and conclusions.

Experience and interest in gambling

Many of the respondents had no experience gambling in the United States, and while they were interested in American gambling, they were not very willing to actually gamble.

American gambling images and related gambling names

Casinos, poker, roulette, and Las Vegas were frequently mentioned when imagining American gambling. These names suggest that they reflect typical elements and locations of American gambling.

Interest and knowledge of American gambling

There are a certain number of people interested in American gambling, and they seek knowledge and information on various aspects. We found that they are particularly interested in information on laws and regulations, game rules, and places where gambling is allowed.

Worries and Concerns about American Gambling

Many respondents have worries and concerns when it comes to gambling in the United States. The main concerns include safety, crime risk, language barriers, tax and financial concerns, unclear gambling rules and etiquette, and lack of ability to deal with problems.

Overall, there are a certain number of people who are interested in gambling in the United States, and tend to seek knowledge and information about gambling types and places, laws and regulations, rules and etiquette. However, it was found that the actual intention to gamble is not so high, and many respondents have worries and concerns.
